Reception Newsletter Summer 1 Week 5

 Term: Summer 1 Date: 14.05.18
Dear Parents/Carers,
We hope you are all had a nice weekend.

Thank you again for your continued support and cooperation in encouraging your child to come in of a morning independently, it is much appreciated and will help in their transition into Year 1.Most children are now managing this very well and enjoying the satisfaction of being able to do this.

We will continue with our topic of ‘Growing and changing’ and we will be reading the story of  “The bad tempered ladybird” by Eric Carle . The children will be encouraged to think about times of the day and recall what happens to the ladybird at different times of the day. We will produce some lovely writing based on the story and using a range of materials to create our own ladybirds in the creative area.

Next week we will be talking about how the children have grown and changed. If you can send in a baby picture and a picture of your child with their family we would appreciate it. We are also collecting plastic bottles to make some bird feeders for the outside area.

We hope this is the week that our beautiful butterflies will emerge and be released to fly free.
Watch out for the blog showing their flight to freedom

A little reminder Wednesday is our PE day, please ensure your child has their named PE kit in school. We have a lot of lost property accumulating in school which cannot be returned to their rightful owner as they are unnamed.

Learning Challenge

Each half term we will be setting our pupils a challenge related to their learning. We believe that it is important for us to provide guidance for parents on how their children's learning can be extended at home. Thank you to all the families who completed this last term we hope to see lots more coming in this term.

The learning challenge will include either a nursery rhyme, famous person, illustration or a piece of music. Please talk to your child about the challenge and help them to engage in their learning. The children can choose how they present their learning challenge outcomes to their teacher or class.
